Be your most honest self. Seriously, don’t compare your life, your past, your body, your scars, your faults, your achievements, your failures, your talents, your story or yourself to other people. That is the path to doubt, low self-esteem, sadness, misery, and just feeling worthless.

Who you are is one of a kind. There is no one who has your soul but you. There is no one who can laugh the way you do. There is no one who’s eyes light up like yours do. There is no one who thinks and feels the way your heart does. There is no one who can tell your story but you.

I know sometimes you look out into the world and see people living “better” than you. Healing faster than you. Falling in love before you. Finding success, peace, happiness before you. But what we see is just a small fragment of their story. It’s the same when they look at you. They are them and you are you. That alone means that your lives won’t be the same. Every person has their journey to go through. Take the focus off how far ahead they are, and look at how much you’ve left behind. This is your book of life and it is just as precious as anyone else’s. You’ve got your own story to write, stop reading into theirs.

The only comparison you should ever make if at all is who/where you were then and who/where you are now. Have you gone forward? Have you grown into yourself? That is what matters — your journey.

Let go of the need to compare and worse to compete. This life is not a battle or a competition. This life, your life is a gift and you will waste away your chance if you spend your days looking at the world and seeing everything you are not.

Get out of bed. Get out of your toxic state of mind and live. Work on doing what is best for you. Spend time learning about your talents instead of focusing on your flaws. Talk to people who inspire you and use the chunks of their story to help you write your own.

Don’t make yourself small just because you are not who you thought you’d be. Or where you thought you’d end up. Who you right now is valuable, precious, needed, and very much loved.

As long as you are breathing you have everything you need to keep writing your story. Stop looking all around you and start paying attention to what’s inside of you.

This is your story, stop trying to copy theirs.

❝ To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not, rich; to listen to stars and birds, babes and sages, with open heart; to study hard; to think quietly, act frankly, talk gently, await occasions, hurry never; in a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common. This is my symphony. ❞
